RunMyShow Zoom App Guide
Last updated August 7, 2026
Follow these instructions to connect Zoom, display public meeting chat inside RunMyShow, and remove the integration when you no longer need it.
Before you begin
You need an invited RunMyShow host account and access to the Zoom account that owns the meetings you want to use. If managed by an organization, a Zoom administrator may need to pre-approve RunMyShow.
Enable Data Loss Prevention (DLP)
Ask Zoom Support to enable Data Loss Prevention (DLP) for the host’s Zoom account. After Zoom confirms it is available, sign in to the Zoom web portal as an administrator, go to Admin Settings → Meeting → Advanced, and enable Data Loss Prevention (DLP).
What RunMyShow receives: The read-only Zoom Chat module is designed to receive public in-meeting messages sent to Everyone. It excludes private, group, waiting-room, and breakout-room messages. RunMyShow cannot send messages, start meetings, or control participants.
Add and authorize RunMyShow
- Go to RunMyShow Host and sign in with your invited host account.
- Open the show you want to use, then open Integrations in the hub header.
- Find Zoom and choose Connect.
- Zoom opens authorization; sign in to the account that owns the meeting, review access, and select Allow.
- After you return, confirm Zoom shows as connected in the Integrations dialog.
- Enter the 9–11 digit Zoom Meeting ID and save it.
Note: connect each host to their own Zoom account; do not reconnect every meeting unless authorization is removed or expired.
Use Zoom Chat during a show
- Confirm the correct Meeting ID for the current show.
- Turn on the Zoom Chat module and place it in your preferred workspace column.
- Start the meeting with the connected account.
- Ask a participant to send a message to Everyone.
- The message appears in RunMyShow within a few seconds; the module is read-only, so reply in Zoom.
Only messages matching the saved Meeting ID and connected account route to that show. Confirm the ID before going live.
Remove the RunMyShow app from Zoom
- Sign in to marketplace.zoom.us/user/installed.
- Open Manage, then Added Apps or Installed Apps.
- Find RunMyShow and select Remove.
- Confirm.
Removal stops new events from reaching RunMyShow. You can also turn off the Zoom Chat module or clear the Meeting ID in RunMyShow.
Request deletion
To request deletion of your Zoom connection and any associated retained public chat, email david@torahtechguy.com from the host email address.
Troubleshooting
Admin approval required: ask your organization’s Zoom admin to approve RunMyShow, then retry.
Connected but no messages: confirm Zoom Support enabled DLP, DLP is on at Admin Settings → Meeting → Advanced, the meeting owner/account and Meeting ID match, Zoom Chat is enabled, and the test message went to Everyone.
Expired connection: return to Integrations and reconnect Zoom; reauthorize if the app was removed.
Still need help: email david@torahtechguy.com with your host email, Meeting ID, and the on-screen error. Never send passwords, client secrets, or webhook secrets.
